Ingredients
- 1 c. flour
- 3/4 c. cornmeal
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- Enough milk to make a stiff batter
- Large sweet onions (Walla Walla or Bermuda are best)
Method
- Mix all ingredients together, except onions, until well blended. Slice onions into 1/2 inch rounds; separate into rings. Dip onions in batter and deep fry until golden brown.
