Ingredients
- 1/4 lb. butter
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 whole egg
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 oz. whiskey (optional)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Cut butter with egg and egg yolks into small pieces.
- Add sugar, salt, whiskey and vanilla.
- Slowly add flour.
- Chill dough for 1 hour or more.
- Roll dough out on lightly floured surface to paper thinness.
- Cut into 2-inch x 3-inch long strips.
- Make slit in center and pull one end of the dough through to form a loose knot.
- Fry in deep oil until light golden color.
- Drain and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
