Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter (not margarine)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. corn syrup
  • 3 Tbsp. water
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 c. chocolate chips

Method

  • Place piece of foil (approximately 10-inches long) on table before starting.
  • Melt butter in 2-quart saucepan.
  • Stir in sugars; add syrup and water.
  • Cook until candy thermometer reads 290°.
  • Add 3/4 cup pecans and cook three minutes more by the clock, stirring constantly.
  • Pour onto foil and quickly spread as thinly as possible.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips on top; spread when they melt.
  • Sprinkle finely chopped pecans on top.
  • Cool and chill, then break into bite-sized pieces.
