Ingredients
- 5-1/2 cups Flour
- 2 packages (7g Package) Yeast
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Salt
- 1/4 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1/4 cups Water
- 2 cups Milk
- Cornmeal
Method
- Combine 3 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda.
- Heat liquid (water and milk) to 120-130 degrees. Add to the dry mixture. Mix well.
- Stir in enough additional flour to make a stiff, tacky batter (not a dough). Spoon into two (2) 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 loaf pans that have been greased and coated with cornmeal. Sprinkle the top of the bread with cornmeal. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove from pans immediately. Cool, slice, and toast.
