Ingredients
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 6 c. unsifted flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. skim milk
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 c. water
- yellow cornmeal
Method
- Grease two 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf pans and sprinkle with cornmeal.
- Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 400°.
- Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, salt, sugar and baking soda in a large bowl.
- Heat liquids until very warm.
- Add to dry mixture.
- Beat well.
- Stir in remaining flour to make a stiff batter.
- Spoon into pans. Sprinkle tops with cornmeal.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
- Bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove from pans immediately and cool on racks.
