Ingredients
- 3 c. cake flour
- 3 c. sugar
- 2 1/4 sticks butter, softened
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. lemon or vanilla extract
- 1 c. warm milk
- 5 eggs
Method
- Put all ingredients in bowl; mix until well blended, about 3 minutes. Scrape sides occasionally.
- Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
- Place in "cold" oven.
- Set temperature at 325° and bake for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours.
- Remove from oven; cool in pan 5 minutes.
- Run knife around sides and remove to cake plate.
- Top can be dusted with 10x sugar or iced with favorite frosting.
