Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1/2 c. white corn syrup
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 2 egg whites
- 1 c. chopped walnuts
- 1/4 c. cut up cherries
- 1 tsp. lemon extract or vanilla
Method
- Boil together the sugar, corn syrup and lemon extract.
- Let boil until brittle in cold water.
- Beat egg whites until stiff; add a little salt.
- Pour boiling syrup over egg whites; stir well. Add walnuts and cherries.
- Pour into greased 8 x 8-inch pan to cool.
