Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates or 2 c., cut in pieces
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. nuts, chopped
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 2 eggs

Method

  • Take 5 cans from peas/corn, wash, dry and spray well with Pam. These can be used over again.
  • Cut dates; sprinkle with baking soda and pour 2 cups boiling water over them.
  • Let cool.
  • Beat 2 eggs; add sugar and butter.
  • Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with dates and water.
  • Add nuts and vanilla.
  • Fill cans 1/2 full.
  • Set on cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350° for about 45 minutes.
