Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. regular oats, uncooked
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts

Method

  • Cream butter in a large mixing bowl, gradually add sugar, beating well.
  • Add eggs and vanilla, beating well.
  • Sift together flour, soda and salt in a small mixing bowl; stir into creamed mixture, mixing well.
  • Stir in oats and walnuts.
  • Drop by teaspoon, 3 inches apart, onto greased cookie sheets.
  • Bake at 375° for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from cookie sheets, and cool on wire racks.
  • Yields 10 dozen.
  • Note:
  • One cup flaked coconut may be added to batter.
