Ingredients
- 1 cup oats
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 3/4 cup milk
- 6 pears - peeled and sliced
- 1/2 lemon
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Method
- Preheat Oven 350 degrees:
- Combine the oats, flour, salt and sugar in a bowl and mix; add the butter and work with your fingers into crumbs. Slowly, add the milk to form dough. Adjust the milk to the dough; you may not need all of the milk. Do not make your dough too sticky.
- Lightly dust a clean surface with flour to roll out the dough to a 1/4 inch thickness. Fit into a 9 inch pie shell and bake for 10 - 12 minutes.
- Remove from the oven to cool.
- For the Filling:
- Combine all of the above in a bowl and toss. Place in cooled pie crust shell.
- For the Topping:
- Combine all of the above in a bowl and work with your fingers to form crumbs.
- Place the crumbs generously over the pears. Use the left over dough to form hearts or your choice of shapes over the pie.
- Bake 40 -45 minutes.
