Ingredients
- 2 c. flour, sifted
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp. cloves
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 c. nuts, chopped
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Blend in flour, mixing well.
- Reserve 1/2 cup of this crumb mixture to sprinkle over cake before baking.
- Add the egg, salt, buttermilk, baking soda, spices, raisins and nuts to the remaining crumb mixture.
- Pour into a 9 x 13-inch greased pan.
- Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until done.
