Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • dash of salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 6 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 6 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. warm milk
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water

Method

  • Dissolve sugar and yeast in lukewarm water; add milk, shortening and salt.
  • Mix.
  • Stir in flour (it may be necessary to add a little more flour to make the dough more easy to knead). Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  • Put by tablespoons into ungreased muffin tins (do not fill over 1/2) or you can put in baking pans and have them connected together.
  • Let rise 30 minutes.
  • Brush tops with butter and bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes.
