Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 c. butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. quick cooking oats
  • 1 c. crisp rice cereal
  • 1 c. flaked coconut
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Method

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • In a large mixer bowl combine all ingredients, except oats, rice cereal, coconut and nuts.
  • Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often until well mixed (2 to 3 minutes). By hand, stir in all remaining ingredients.
  • Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2-inches apart onto cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 13 to 16 minutes or until browned.
  • Yields 4 dozen cookies.
