Ingredients

  • 1 gal. green tomatoes
  • 2 large bell peppers (can use 1 red pepper)
  • 4 onions
  • 1/4 c. salt
  • 2 heads cabbage
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 1/2 c. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 2 tsp. pickling spice

Method

  • Grind together (or use food processor) the tomatoes, peppers, onions, salt and cabbage.
  • Let set.
  • Combine sugar, vinegar, celery seed and pickling spice.
  • Mix all together in a large pot. Cook over medium heat to a good boil; continue to cook for 5 minutes.
  • Pack into hot sterile jars and seal.
  • Good with meat or beans.
