Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. pork, diced
- 3/4 lb. veal or 2 chicken breasts, diced
- 1/2 lb. beef, diced
- 6 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 c. water (more if needed)
- 1 lb. bunch celery, sliced diagonally
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch, mixed with 1/4 c. water
- 1 (10 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
- 1 (No. 2) can bean sprouts, drained
- 1 (2 oz.) can mushrooms
- salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Brown meat in oil.
- Add soy sauce and water.
- Simmer 2 minutes. Add celery and onion and simmer 1 1/2 hours.
- Will need 1 cup water to thicken.
- Blend cornstarch and water to thicken and add remaining ingredients.
- Heat thoroughly.
- Serve with rice or chow mein noodles.
