Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. pork, diced
  • 3/4 lb. veal or 2 chicken breasts, diced
  • 1/2 lb. beef, diced
  • 6 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 c. water (more if needed)
  • 1 lb. bunch celery, sliced diagonally
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch, mixed with 1/4 c. water
  • 1 (10 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
  • 1 (No. 2) can bean sprouts, drained
  • 1 (2 oz.) can mushrooms
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method

  • Brown meat in oil.
  • Add soy sauce and water.
  • Simmer 2 minutes. Add celery and onion and simmer 1 1/2 hours.
  • Will need 1 cup water to thicken.
  • Blend cornstarch and water to thicken and add remaining ingredients.
  • Heat thoroughly.
  • Serve with rice or chow mein noodles.
