Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 4 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. hot milk
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 (9-inch) baked pie crust

Method

  • In a medium saucepan, blend dry ingredients.
  • Add 1 cup hot milk;
  • mix
  • well.
  • Blend
  • in egg yolks and add last cup of hot milk.
  • Cook
  • over
  • medium heat, stirring constantly until thick, about
  • minutes.
  • Add
  • butter and vanilla.
  • Pour into cool, baked pie crust.
  • Top with meringue and bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
