Ingredients
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 4 Tbsp. flour
- 4 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. hot milk
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 (9-inch) baked pie crust
Method
- In a medium saucepan, blend dry ingredients.
- Add 1 cup hot milk;
- mix
- well.
- Blend
- in egg yolks and add last cup of hot milk.
- Cook
- over
- medium heat, stirring constantly until thick, about
- minutes.
- Add
- butter and vanilla.
- Pour into cool, baked pie crust.
- Top with meringue and bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
