Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1/3 c. cocoa
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 baked pie shell

Method

  • Mix together the sugar and flour.
  • Add milk and cook in double boiler until thick.
  • Remove from heat and add egg yolks.
  • Mix cocoa with enough boiling water to form paste and add to mixture. Return to heat and cook until thick.
  • Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla.
  • Cool and pour into baked crust.
  • Top with 2 egg whites (beaten stiff) and brown in oven at 325°.
