Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 c. milk
- 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. cocoa or 3 sq. unsweetened chocolate, cut up
Method
- Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt in saucepan.
- Gradually stir in milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.
- Boil for 1 minute.
- Remove from heat and stir 1/2 hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks.
- Blend hot mixture into saucepan.
- Boil 1 minute more, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and blend in butter and vanilla.
