Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
  • 1 small can evaporated milk
  • 3/4 c. margarine
  • chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 pkg. chocolate chips

Method

  • Prepare the cake mix as instructed on box.
  • Pour half of the batter into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Bake 10 minutes at 350°.
  • Melt the caramels, evaporated milk and margarine until smooth.
  • Pour over baked cake.
  • Sprinkle with chopped nuts (optional) and 1/2 package chocolate chips.
  • Pour on rest of cake batter and sprinkle with nuts and rest of chips.
  • Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
