Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2/3 c. butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. boiling water

Method

  • Cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs and vanilla.
  • Beat for 3 minutes at high speed.
  • Sift together flour, salt and baking soda; add to mixture, alternating with milk.
  • Add cocoa paste.
  • Pour into greased baking pans.
  • Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes.
