Ingredients

  • 1 c. elbow macaroni
  • butter
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 c. cooked, diced chicken
  • 4 slices cheese

Method

  • Cook macaroni and drain.
  • Melt butter in saucepan.
  • Add onion and cook over low heat for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Stir in flour, salt and pepper.
  • Add milk gradually and cook until thickened.
  • Place half macaroni in greased 2-quart casserole dish and half chicken over macaroni.
  • Repeat.
  • Arrange cheese on top, pour sauce over casserole.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
