Ingredients

  • 4 oz. German chocolate
  • 3 Tbsp. margarine
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Melt chocolate with 3 tablespoons of margarine.
  • Stir and cool.
  • Cream 2 tablespoons of margarine with cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar.
  • Beat until fluffy.
  • Add 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of flour and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla.
  • Set aside.
  • Beat 2 eggs until light.
  • Slowly beat in 1 cup of sugar.
  • Add baking powder, salt and 1/2 cup flour.
  • Blend in chocolate mixture.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
  • Spread 1/2 batter in a greased 8 or 9-inch square pan. Top with cream cheese mixture.
  • Spoon rest of chocolate mixture over top.
  • Zigzag with knife through batter.
  • Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350° until done, but moist.
