Ingredients

  • 8 cups 1% milk
  • 1 cup uncooked basmati rice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice

Method

  • In a heavy saucepan, combine the milk, rice, sugar and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 35-40 minutes or until slightly thickened, stirring frequently.
  • Remove from the heat; stir in the spices. Serve warm or chilled. Refrigerate leftovers.
