Ingredients

  • 14 oz. caramels
  • 1/2 c. evaporated milk
  • 6 or 12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1 German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. melted oleo
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Melt caramels and 1/2 cup evaporated milk over low heat.
  • Mix together the cake mix, oleo and 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
  • Pat 1/2 of chocolate mixture into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Bake 6 or 7 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and pour melted caramel over chocolate mixture.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over caramel.
  • Pat remaining chocolate mixture over caramel and chips. Bake 15 to 20 minutes more.
  • Refrigerate after cooling before cutting.
