Ingredients

  • 6 qt. popped corn (1/2 c. unpopped kernels yields 4 qt. popped corn)
  • 2 c. peanuts
  • 1 c. margarine
  • 2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • Preheat oven to 250°.
  • Grease large roasting pan.
  • Pour popped corn and peanuts in pan.
  • In saucepan on top of stove, melt margarine.
  • Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and salt.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Boil without stirring for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in baking soda and vanilla.
  • Gradually pour over popcorn, mixing well.
  • Bake 1 hour; stir every 15 minutes.
  • Cool completely.
  • Break apart.
  • Store covered.
