Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 stick margarine, softened
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1 c. finely chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels (35 caramels)
- 1/3 c. evaporated milk
- 6 oz. chocolate chips
- 3/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Method
- Put cake mix into a bowl and cut in margarine.
- Add 1/2 cup evaporated milk and 1 cup chopped nuts.
- Spread half the mixture into a greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
- Bake at 350° for 6 to 10 minutes. Melt caramels and 1/2 cup evaporated milk over low heat, stirring constantly.
- Cover baked layer with chocolate chips and 3/4 cup chopped nuts.
- Spread caramel mixture over chips and nuts.
- Cover with remaining batter.
- Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
- Cool.
- Cut.
