Ingredients

  • 6 medium red apples
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. dark corn syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. light cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • nuts (if desired)

Method

  • Combine sugar, corn syrup, butter and 1/2 cup cream.
  • Cook over low heat until sugar dissolves; add mixture.
  • When it comes to a full boil, add rest of cream.
  • Cook to very hard boil stage (254°) without stirring.
  • Remove from heat; add vanilla.
  • Dip apples into syrup (work fast).
  • Roll in coarsely chopped nuts. Place upright on well-greased cookie sheet to cool.
