Ingredients

  • 4 qt. water
  • 1 large lemon, quartered
  • 5 lb. unpeeled large fresh shrimp
  • 2 c. vegetable oil
  • 1/4 c. hot sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Old Bay
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dried whole basil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dried whole oregano
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dried whole thyme
  • 1 1/2 tsp. minced fresh parsley
  • red leaf lettuce

Method

  • Bring water and lemon to a boil; add shrimp and cook 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Drain well.
  • Rinse with ice cold water.
  • Peel and devein shrimp; place in a large bowl or gallon size Ziploc bag.
  • Combine remaining ingredients except lettuce.
  • Beat with a wire whisk. Pour over shrimp and toss.
  • Cover.
  • Chill 8 hours.
  • Drain shrimp; serve in a lettuce-lined bowl.
