Ingredients

  • 12 large cabbage leaves
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 1/2 c. cooked rice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 2/3 soup can water

Method

  • Partially cook cabbage leaves in boiling salt water about 2 minutes; remove from water and drain.
  • Combine next 6 ingredients; divide meat mixture into 12 parts and wrap each portion in a cabbage leaf.
  • Secure with toothpick.
  • Place in baking dish.
  • Mix tomato soup with water and pour over cabbage leaves.
  • Cover with foil.
  • Bake, covered, at 350° for 45 minutes.
  • Uncover and bake 15 minutes.
