Ingredients
- 1 c. milk
- 1 yeast cake
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- melted butter
Method
- Scald milk and remove from heat.
- Add shortening to milk. Combine yeast and sugar in bowl.
- Add yeast mixture to lukewarm milk mixture.
- Add salt and slightly beaten eggs to mixture.
- Add flour and mix well.
- Let rise until double in size, about 2 to 3 hours.
- Place half of dough on floured board; roll into circle 1/2-inch thick.
- Brush with melted butter.
- Cut into 16 pie shaped wedges.
- Roll each wedge beginning at round edge and place on greased pan with pointed end underneath.
- Let rise again until double in size.
- Bake about 15 minutes in 400° oven.
- Makes 32 rolls.
