Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread (remove crust and butter both sides)
  • 1 lb. bacon, browned and crumbled (could use sausage or ham)
  • 1 small onion, chopped and browned
  • 1 (8 oz.) shredded American cheese
  • 12 eggs, well beaten
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper and salt
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard

Method

  • Arrange buttered bread in well-greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Cut bread to cover entire pan.
  • Sprinkle cooked bacon over bread. Brown onion and sprinkle over bread, then the cheese.
  • Mix eggs, milk, pepper, salt and dry mustard.
  • Pour egg mixture over entire pan.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight.
