Ingredients

  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 box brown sugar
  • 5 eggs (at room temperature)
  • 1 c. milk (room temperature)
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped pecans, dredged into a bit of flour

Method

  • Cream butter and Crisco until fluffy.
  • Add sugars and eggs. Add milk and flour, mixed with salt and baking powder, alternately.
  • Add vanilla and nuts, if desired.
  • Turn into greased and floured pan.
  • Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Cool 25 minutes before removing from pan.
  • This is baked in a tube pan.
