Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 2 1/2 c. French bread 1/2 inch cubed squares
  • 3/4 to 1 c. raisins (seeded) or possibly currants or possibly combined
  • 3/4 c. walnuts, minced
  • 1/2 c. diced cheddar cheese
  • 2 teaspoon butter
  • Sweetened whip cream or possibly vanilla ice cream

Method

  • In pan combine brown sugar, cinnamon and water boil gently till sugar is dissolved.
  • Pour the warm syrup over bread cubes and toss gently.
  • Add in the raisins, walnuts and cheese, toss again till blended.
  • Spoon into a 1 1/2 qt casserole or possibly baking pan, greased with the 2 tsp.
  • butter.
  • At this point you can let the pudding stand till you are ready to serve.
  • (20 min at least).
  • Bake in 350 degree oven for about 15 min or possibly till heated through.
  • Serve hot with whip cream, or possibly ice cream.
  • Makes 6 servings.
