Ingredients
- 30 med. cucumbers
- 8 med. onions
- 2 lg. red or green peppers
- 1/2 c. salt
- 5 c. sugar
- 5 c. vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. mustard seed
- 1 tsp. turmeric
- 1 tsp. whole cloves
- 2 Tbsp. pickling spice
- 1/4-1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. celery seed
Method
- Slice cucumbers into thin rings.
- Do not pare.
- Slice onions into thin rings.
- Cut peppers in fine strips.
- Dissolve salt in ice water and pour over sliced vegetables.
- Let stand 3 hours and then drain.
- Combine vinegar, sugar, and spices and bring to a boil.
- Add drained vegetables and heat just to boiling point.
- Do not boil.
- Pack into sterilized jars and seal.
