Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. all-bran
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 cakes compressed yeast
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 6 c. flour

Method

  • Combine shortening, boiling water, sugar, bran and salt; stir until shortening is melted.
  • Set aside to cool to lukewarm. Combine yeast and 1 cup lukewarm water.
  • Dissolve and add to first mixture.
  • Add beaten eggs; mix well.
  • Add flour and mix well. Cover and place in refrigerator overnight or until ready to use. Dough will last in refrigerator for a week.
  • When ready, pinch off amount needed and place in greased baking pan.
  • Let rise and bake in a 350° oven until done.
