Ingredients
- 5 c. flour
- 5 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 qt. buttermilk
- 2 c. 100% Bran (Nabisco)
- 2 c. boiling water
- 4 c. All-Bran (Kellogg's)
Method
- Mix together the first 3 ingredients, then add shortening, sugar, eggs and buttermilk.
- In another bowl, mix the 100% Bran and boiling water.
- Fold in the All-Bran, then add to the mixture.
- Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 400°.
- Can add dry fruit, nuts, etc.
- Mix at least one day ahead of use.
- Batter keeps 4 weeks in sealed container.
