Ingredients
- 1 lb. round steak
- flour
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp. diced onion
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 medium carrots, cut in 1/2-inch pieces
- 2 c. hot water
- 2 bouillon cubes
- 4 medium potatoes, cut in half
Method
- Cut steak in serving pieces or in thin strips.
- Dissolve bouillon cubes in the hot water.
- Dredge meat in flour.
- Brown on both sides in shortening.
- Add bay leaf, onion, salt and pepper, water with the bouillon cubes, carrots and potatoes.
- Cover and cook over low heat 50 minutes or until meat and vegetables are tender.
- (I like to add zucchini the last 15 minutes of cooking time.)
