Ingredients
- 1 stick butter (1/2 c.)
- 1 egg
- 1 c. unsifted flour
- 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
- 1 c. light brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Method
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat; remove from heat.
- Add sugar and stir until smooth and dissolved.
- Transfer mixture to larger mixer bowl and beat 1 minute.
- Add egg and vanilla.
- Continue beating until light and fluffy, scraping sides of bowl occasionally.
- Stir in flour and salt, just until blended. Fold in chocolate pieces.
- Spread in an 8-inch greased and floured square pan.
- Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 350° or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Do not overbake. Cool completely on wire rack, then cut in squares.
- Makes 16 squares.
