Ingredients
- 3 1/4 - 3 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 c. lowfat milk
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
Method
- Place 1 1/2 c. of the flour and yeast in blender container.
- Switch on and off to combine.
- Heat lowfat milk, shortening, sugar and salt just till hot, stirring till shortening is melted.
- Add in to dry ingredients in blender.
- Add in egg, blending at low speed till combined.
- Blend at high speed till smooth, only 4 to 5 seconds.
- Pour into a mixing bowl.
- Stir in sufficient flour to make a moderately stiff dough.
- Cover and let rise till double, about 45 min.
- Punch down.
- Turn onto lightly floured surface; let rest 10 min.
- Shape loaf.
- Put in a greased 9"x5"x3" loaf pan.
- Let rise till double.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 45 min.
- Yield: 1 loaf.
