Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lard or shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. anise seed
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 tsp. brandy extract
  • 6 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • In large bowl cream lard and sugar until creamy.
  • Add eggs, anise and brandy extract.
  • Beat and mix well. Add flour alternately, with baking powder, salt and creamed mixture until stiff dough has formed.
  • Knead dough; pat or roll out to 1/4-inch shapes.
  • Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 10 minutes at 375°.
