Ingredients
- 1 gallon white basmati rice
- 1 gallon water
- 1 12 quarts water
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 cup oil or 1 cup butter
Method
- Heat the oil/butter in a large, thick bottomed pot.
- Add the rice.
- Cook, stirring constantly for about 3 minutes.
- Sauteing the rice brings out the nutty aromatic flavors.
- Add the water and salt.
- Swirl and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low.
- Cover tightly and cook until the water is absorbed.
- Remove from heat.
- Let the rice stand, still covered, to finish cooking.
- Transfer to a 4" pan and serve.
