Ingredients

  • 1/2 glass wine
  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 6 large eggs or 8 small ones
  • 4 c. plain flour
  • 2 rounded tsp. baking powder (add to flour before sifting)
  • 1 qt. pecans, chopped
  • 1 box raisins (optional)

Method

  • Beat sugar and butter together.
  • Beat eggs separately (whites and yellows).
  • Stir them into mixture.
  • Add 3 cups flour, which has been sifted only once.
  • Take the remaining cup of flour and dredge nuts and raisins.
  • Line bottom of the cake pan with waxed paper.
  • Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.
