Ingredients

  • 5 Tbsp. butter (use 3 to cut into flour)
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. half and half

Method

  • Blend flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • Cut in 3 tablespoons butter until fine particles.
  • Beat egg and add half and half and 2 tablespoons softened butter.
  • Toss with fork, knead very gently on floured surface.
  • Roll 1/4-inch thick, cut and spread with softened butter. Top with remaining rounds.
  • Sprinkle top with sugar.
  • Bake 14 minutes at 400°.
