Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 3/4 c. canned evaporated milk
  • 2 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. sunflower seeds
  • 2/3 c. honey
  • 1/2 c. salad oil
  • 2 Tbsp. salt
  • 8 c. whole wheat flour

Method

  • Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.
  • Combine milk and 2 cups warm water.
  • To this add honey, oil and salt.
  • In large bowl put about 6 cups flour, then add the yeast and milk mixture.
  • Beat thoroughly.
  • Add rest of flour.
  • Place in greased bowl.
  • Cover and let rise.
  • Place on board and divide dough in half.
  • Knead a minute or two and place in greased pan.
  • Brush oil over top of loaves and let rise until doubled.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 minutes. To make in a bread maker, cut recipe in half.
