Ingredients

  • 5 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 c. crisco shortening
  • 1 lrg egg (mixed with sufficient water to make 3/4 c.)

Method

  • I can guarantee which the bottom crust will be as flaky as the top crust.
  • It's a BIG hit around here!
  • Try it, it's SUPER flaky...
  • Mix together the flour and salt; cut in the shortening till it resembles tiny peas.
  • Add in sufficient water to the egg to make 3/4 c. of liquid (I used Cool water).
  • Add in to the flour mix and blend till dough holds together.
  • The recipe didn't say to refrigeratethe dough but I did anyway.. habit.
  • Not only is this crust SUPER FLAKY but it's VERY easy to work with.
  • I've never achieved a finer crust.
  • Try it, TRUST ME, it's wonderful!
  • This recipe is suppose to make 3 double pie crusts, I'm not sure.
  • I got one double pie crust & made 12 small apricot tarts with the rest of it.
