Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 lb. beef, cut into small cubes
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 4 small potatoes
  • 1 c. green beans
  • 4 small carrots
  • 1 c. tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp. plain flour
  • 1/4 c. water

Method

  • Heat a small pressure cooker or saucepan. Melt shortening and brown meat. Add 1/2 cup of water (more if you are using saucepan). Cook meat until tender. Add vegetables and cook until they are tender. Season with salt and pepper. Thicken with balance of water and flour, mixed together. This makes a hearty meal served with cornbread and a green salad.
