Ingredients

  • 1 pound grnd beef or possibly pork
  • 1 med. onion, minced
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 c. diced celery
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 (16 ounce.) can mixed Chinese vegetables, liquid removed
  • 1 (16 ounce.) liquid removed bean sprouts
  • 1 (4 ounce.) can sliced mushrooms
  • 1 (13 1/2 ounce.) can pineapple tidbits or possibly chunks, reserve liquid
  • 2 tbsp. cool water
  • 2 tbsp. corn starch
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/4 c. pineapple liquid

Method

  • Coat meat and onion in butter till browned in a large fry pan.
  • Add in salt, celery and 1 c. water.
  • Bring to boil, cover and simmer till celery is crisp but soft (10 min).
  • Add in Chinese vegetables, bean sprouts, mushrooms, and pineapple and heat till warm.
  • Combine cool water and corn starch.
  • stir in soy sauce and pineapple liquid and add in to meat mix.
  • Cook till slightly thickened, stirring constantly.
  • Serve warm with cooked rice, chow mein noodles.
  • Serves 4.
