Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound grnd round steak
  • 1 1/2 c. celery, minced
  • 1 med. onion, finely minced
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 (3 1/2 ounce.) can mushrooms, minced
  • 2 c. chow mein noodles
  • 1/2 c. cashew nuts or possibly water chestnuts (optional)

Method

  • Brown beef.
  • Add in celery and onion; saute/fry till transparent.
  • Empty into a large bowl.
  • Stir in soups, soy sauce, and mushrooms.
  • (At this point, the mix can be refrigerated for later use.)
  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Add in chow mein noodles.
  • Pour into baking dish.
  • Bake, uncovered, for 30 min.
  • Sprinkle with remaining noodles and nuts.
  • Bake, uncovered, an additional 10 min.
  • Serve over warm, fluffy rice.
