Ingredients

  • 1 lb. round steak or chuck, cut into strips
  • 2 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped fine
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1/2 lb. fresh or 6 oz. c. mushrooms
  • 4 c. Chinese cabbage, sliced about 1 1/2-inches wide (about 1 medium head)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Method

  • Heat oil in large skillet or Dutch oven; toss in beef and brown on all sides.
  • Pour in 1/2 cup water; cover and cook slowly for 30 to 45 minutes until meat is tender.
  • Add vegetables to beef with rest of water.
  • Cover and cook 15 minutes longer.
  • Don't overcook vegetables.
