Ingredients
- 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. prepared mustard
- 1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 c. peeled and sliced onions
- 2 Tbsp. salad oil
Method
- Cook onions in salad oil or melted fat in large skillet over medium
- heat
- until soft.
- Add ground beef and 1 teaspoon of salt. Cook and stir until beef is lightly browned or use 2 1/2
- cups chopped
- leftover, cooked beef,
- pork, chicken or turkey instead of
- ground beef and do not brown).
- Add tomato sauce, prepared mustard, pepper sauce, vinegar and water.
- Let simmer, uncovered, for
- 10 to 15 minutes.
- Serve large spoonfuls on toasted halves of hamburger buns.
